Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Stratocaster ST-70SH J-Craft series electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Crafted in Japan, this long ago discontinued limited run model was offered only in the Japanese domestic market, notably rare outside its country of origin. The ST-70SH is a unique hybrid of Stratocaster and Telecaster features with a traditional tonewood complement of a solid alder body, maple neck, and 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard. The pickup pairing includes a Texas Special Telecaster neck pickup, and a Dragster JW humbucker at the bridge, offering equal parts twang and muscle. The neck pickup has healthy output with a smooth, bell-like response, while the bridge delivers humbucker power and push with an upper midrange presence and sweet growl when you dig in hard. The guitar weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and low action.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 10" radius, featuring dot inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire, and the guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with a responsive truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the stock bone nut measures just a hair over 1 5/8“ in width at 42mm. The headstock features Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate which matches the contour of the neck heel for easy access to the highest frets.
On the body, the stock electronics function flawlessly, with a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls for the Texas Special neck pickup and Dragster JW humbucker. The vibrato has a large diecast block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The chrome hardware has ample shine, and the Stratocaster-shaped body is accented by a Tele Thinline-style pearloid pickguard. Cosmetic wear is limited to minor marks mostly relegated to the lower bout body edge, while the neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
