Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Precision Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model PB62-70US in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This upper-tiered “Crafted in Japan” Precision Bass features a USA-made pickup, and vintage-spec touches including spiral saddles and full-size tuner baseplates. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside of its country of origin, this Precision Bass' tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fingerboard.The smooth, resonant acoustic response provides an ideal platform for the USA-made split-coil pickup (the same pickup seen in American Standard models of the era). This pickup delivers thump, sonic breadth and sweet treble growl. Weighing 9lbs 3oz, this bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and ideal heft, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire exhibits no wear, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines have full-size vintage-spec baseplates and gleaming nickel plating. The “Crafted in Japan” text and R-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.All of the electronics function as intended, with Master Volume and Tone controls governing the pickup, and all of the chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, including the flat-topped knurled knobs and bridge base with vintage-style spiral saddles. Plastics include the three-ply dark reddish brown tortoise pickguard.This is a very well-kept example, with cosmetic wear on the gloss three-tone Sunburst finish limited to a scant few pinhead-sized dings on the back. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
