Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Jaguar '66 vintage reissue model JG66B in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. One of the rarest (and arguably coolest) Jaguars ever produced by Fender Japan, this discontinued custom color model with matching headstock features a Candy Apple Red custom color finish, neck binding, pearl block inlay, F tuning machines, and a chunky C-shaped mid-60s neck profile carve. A "Crafted in Japan" model only intended for the Japanese domestic market, this Jaguar is rarely seen outside its country of origin.
For surfy snap and twang, it's hard to beat the Jaguar, a model adopted by a wide range of genres for its cutting Fender tone and easy playability. With a percussive clarity and snarl in the bridge position and warmer, darker tonalities at the neck, there's actually a surprisingly wide range of voicings available on the Jaguar, further enhanced by the Rhythm Circuit on the lower bout (for even darker tones) and a bass cut switch on the hexagonal switch plate (for more thinned out, treble-centric sizzle). This Jag weighs 8lbs 7oz, professionally setup with 10-46 strings here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments.
The maple neck has a chunky C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder and plenty of substance in every register, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4" radius and features original slender fretwire which retains its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly in every register up the 24" scale. The fretboard width at the nut is 42mm (1.650"), and the nut is inset fractionally from the neck binding. On the Candy Apple Red headstock, the original Schaller-made Fender F tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well with the correct vintage look. The "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial is present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, with individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and the vibrato and bridge work well together for quick dives and warbles. A pale mint green pickguard accents the finish, officially coined Old Candy Apple Red by Fender Japan, as it approximates a darker, more vintage-correct shade of this classic custom color. Cosmetic wear is limited to light finish scratches and scuffs on the back, mostly clustered just south of the belly carve, and just a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
