Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass AJB-M/DJ medium scale model in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A Crafted in Japan exclusive model not designed for export, this particular Aerodyne features a slightly scaled down 7/8ths-size body and 32" medium scale length. Visually unique, this Aerodyne features a traditional Jazz bass pickup configuration, bound body, and gloss Black finish with matching headstock. The original Dimarzio pickups offer plenty of presence and midrange cut, accentuating the subtle growl of the roundwound strings while still having a rich low end with plenty of girth as you dial back the Tone knob. The bass is well-balanced on a strap, weighing 8lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 45-105 roundwound strings.

The maple neck has a slender U profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard is a thick and dark cut, and the slender vintage-style frets have well-rounded crowns and their full factory height. The bass features a 32" scale length (as opposed to a traditional 34" Jazz Bass scale) and a 1 1/2" nut width. The four-bolt neck plate is also shaped in concert with a contoured heel for easy access to the highest frets. The matching Black headstock features chrome clover button tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial are present just above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control with chrome, Strat-style knobs that show a touch of surface patina. Plastic parts include the three-ply pickguard and pickup covers with silkscreened "Dimarzio Collection" text. Wear on the gloss Black finish includes scattered dings across the back, one finish chip on the edge of the belly contour, and more concentrated wear on the treble side lower bout edge. The semi-gloss neck profile is particularly smooth and inviting to the palm with just a couple shallow marks.
