2005 Fender '62 Telecaster Custom TL62B Black w/ Matching Headstock, USA Pickups, Japan CIJ

Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Telecaster '62 vintage reissue model TL62B-US/MH in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A very rare Fender Japan model with a gloss Black finish and matching headstock, this Tele represents a middle ground between a more traditional '62 Tele and an Aerodyne model, given the belly carve, bound top, and matching Black peghead.

Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this Telecaster delivers the goods and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. The guitar is loaded with the stock pair of USA-made Fender American Vintage  single coils, which feature staggered, beveled alnico V magnets. The tonewood complement of an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard provide a smooth, balanced platform for the single coil pair, and the pickups deliver plenty of cutting twang and sparkling snap. The guitar weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a modestly slender C profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. On the rosewood slab fretboard, the original slender frets are flawless, and the guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale. The nut measures 1.665" in width (just shy of 1 11/16"), and the gloss Black finished matching headstock has a simple "Fender" logo and set of Kluson-style Gotoh tuners that hold pitch as they should.

The electronics function as intended, with a traditional Tele control layout governing the USA-Made Fender American Vintage single coils which feature black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads. The hardware includes a vintage-style bridge with spiral saddles which show heavy surface patina, with lighter patina on bridge base and brighter chrome plating on the flat top knurled knobs and control plate. The three-ply black pickguard shows some requisite pick scuffing, predominantly on the treble side.

A visually striking guitar that's understated and elegant, the top is accented by cream binding, and eschewing the typical slab Tele body, this guitar boasts a generous belly carve and contoured back body edge for an extremely comfortable feel against the body. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor dings and faint finish scuffs on the back, and a concentration of shallow nick on the bass-side lower bout body edge. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless and un-ambered.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
