Up for sale, a 2004 Gretsch G6122JR Country Classic Jr. in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. This scaled-down version of Gretsch’s iconic double-cutaway G6122 Country Classic features a body width of just 14”, retaining the tonal profile of the full-size G6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman, beloved since its introduction in 1957.Featuring a fully hollow maple body, plus a two-piece maple neck capped by a bound ebony fingerboard, this Gretsch has plenty of immediate attack and glassy articulation, with open, airy quality inherent to the hollowbody design. The Filter'Tron humbuckers have a full spectrum quality, with round, punchy notes on the wound strings and plenty of chewy treble sparkle. This Gretsch weighs 7lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The two-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulders, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. The bound ebony fretboard has a 9 1/2“ radius, with neo-classic thumbnail pearl inlay, and pristine medium jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24.6“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the original gold Grover Rotomatic tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics function as intended; the pickups are governed by a Master Volume knob on the treble-side cutaway, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup, a three-way pickup selector switch, and a three-position Tone switch. The gold-plated G pointer knurled knobs, ABR-1-style bridge with ebony base, and Bigsby B6G vibrato unit all have plenty of shine, save for notable patina on the bass side of the bridge. The vibrato actuates smoothly and bounces quickly back to pitch. The gold back-painted raised pickguard and pickup surrounds round out the plastics. The serialized label is visible through the bass-side bound F-hole.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Walnut finish is limited to a handful of minor dings on the back and body perimeter, as well as some limited buckle worming central to the waist and some pick scuffs on top at the bass-side cutaway. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with just a few marks along the profile length. The original Gretsch-branded hardshell case is included, along with the factory paperwork.
