Up for sale, a 2004 Gibson Firebird V in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Firebird simply has a ton of character, with plenty of honest playwear, sticker tan lines and even a random scribble (signature?) on the upper bout for added chutzpah. Complete with hangtags from Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, this USA-made Gibson Firebird was originally imported to Japan, and Yamano had a reputation for demanding Gibson's finest tonewoods.

Featuring seven-ply neck through construction with a solid mahogany body and neck, the instrument's warmth and natural sustain translates faithfully through a pair of Gibson's hot Firebird pickups. The tone is rich and full, with plenty of midrange content and an aggressive treble bite. Weighing 8lbs 5oz, this Gibson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and a fast, effortless feel, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .870" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the medium jumbo frets have their full factory height and plenty of meat, exhibiting light wear beneath the plain strings from frets 1-12. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock sports the original set of chrome-plated banjo tuners which turn very smoothly, hold pitch well, and are a vintage-correct option no longer available on current standard line Gibson Firebird models.

On the body, all of the electronics are stock and work as they should, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, and the humbuckers feature patent number baseplates and untouched solder joints. Hardware includes the gleaming pickup covers and surrounds, a similarly tidy Nashville bridge and stopbar. Plastics comprise the multi-ply pickguard with Firebird graphic and quartet of black reflector cap knobs. Surprisingly, the original protective factory film is still intact on the rear control cavity cover.

The Alpine White gloss nitro lacquer finish has its fair share of bumps and bruises, yet is notably structurally sound with zero repairs. There is buckle rash on the back, a faint green ink scribble on the bass-side upper bout on top, and finish loss both on neck profile and lower bout body edge, buffed smooth with the surrounding finish.

The original black tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags.
