Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Telecaster ‘72 vintage reissue model TL72 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, finished in Antigua and complete with an upgraded Fender/G&G tweed hardshell case. This limited edition “Crafted in Japan” Tele boasts the premium fit and finish work for which Fender Japan is known, exceedingly well-kept for nearly two decades. Featuring a basswood body and a one-piece maple neck, this Tele has a balanced, smooth natural acoustic profile with exceptional natural treble cut, qualities faithfully captured by the stock pair of TL-Current single coil pickups. These pickups deliver chewy twang in the bridge position, and the neck pickup has a throaty, bell-like fullness and percussive cut. Weighing 7lbs 5oz, this Telecaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ fretboard, and the stock slender fretwire is practically perfect, with just a  hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock has a block Telecaster logo, and the Schaller-made Fender "F' tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups wired to the stock harness and governed by Master Volume and Tone controls plus a three-way pickup selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware all shines like new, including the control plate, flat-topped knurled knobs, “Pat. Pend” bridge base, and steel barrel saddles, and plastics comprise the top hat switch tip and three-ply Antigua-finished pickguard. The custom color Antigua gloss finish has barely a mark on it, and the smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is similarly flawless. An upgraded Fender/G&G Deluxe tweed hardshell case with red poodle interior is included.
