Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Telecaster ‘71 vintage reissue model TL71-58 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, finished in custom color Torino Red. This “Crafted in Japan” Tele was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside of its country of origin.

Tonewoods include an ash body and an uncommonly figured one-piece flame maple neck, yielding a balanced and lively natural acoustic tone, qualities which translate well through the pickup pair. The Fender Japan TL-Current single coil pickup pair delivers sparkle and cutting twang in the bridge position, with a smooth, bell-like neck position sound. This Tele weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece figured maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius and pristine slender fretwire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock sports an era-accurate block logo, and the F tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should with hexagonal chrome-plated buttons. The “Crafted in Japan” text and R-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the single coil pickups wired to the stock harness and governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome plating on the flat-topped knurled knobs and control plate shine like new, and the Pat. Pend. bridge and steel barrel saddles have a light dusting of surface patina. Plastics comprise the top hat switch tip and the three-ply white pickguard.

The gloss Torino Red finish includes a couple small finish chips on the body edges (one has a small amount of touch-up on the back), and some additional minor marks and faint finsih scratches on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless, highlighting dimensional flame figuring in the maple.

A faux leather padded gigbag is included.
