Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Stratocaster ‘72 vintage reissue model ST72 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, finished in Antigua and complete with an upgraded black tweed Fender/G&G Deluxe hardshell case. This limited edition "Crafted in Japan" model has been exceedingly well-kept for nearly the past two decades, boasting the premium fit and finish work for which Fender Japan is known.
Featuring a basswood body and a one-piece maple neck, this Strat has a chiming, lively acoustic profile with ample top end articulation, faithfully captured by the stock trio of flat pole alnico magnet single coil pickups. These pickups deliver a bevy of '70s-flavored Strat tonalities; the bridge has a sparkling spank, the neck has a bell-like sweetness, and there’s quintessential hollow Strat quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. Weighing 7lbs 8oz, this ST72 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The fretboard has a 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The large headstock has a bullet truss rod nut, and the Schaller-made Fender "F" tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial are present above the three-bolt, "F"-embossed neck plate with micro-tilt adjustment.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups wired to the stock harness and governed by a five-way selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, including the jack cup, bridge base, and block saddles, and the vibrato actuates easily and bounces quickly back to pitch. Plastics comprise the black knobs and pickup covers, and the three-ply Antigua-finished pickguard. There's barely a mark on the custom color Antigua gloss finish, and the smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is similarly pristine
An upgraded Fender/G&G Deluxe black tweed hardshell case with black plush interior is included.
