Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. From the earlier "Crafted in Japan" production run of the (now discontinued) Marcus Miller Jazz Bass, this bass features a gloss Natural finished ash body, active EQ, and maple fretboard with binding and pearl block inlay. The Marcus Miller model is designed for optimal richness, detail, and articulation, and the stock pickups have plenty of growl and thump, with the top end response accentuated by the maple fretboard. The ash body and Leo Quan Badass bridge also ensure ample sustain, clear note attack and a complex midrange character. The bass weighs 9lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register and more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The stock medium jumbo fretwire has ample height and meat with just a touch of uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-5 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The original nut has the traditional 1 1/2" Jazz Bass width, and the bass plays easily up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. On the headstock, the large clover button tuning gears turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text is present above the three-bolt F neck plate, with an R-prefix serial number on the headstock face.

All of the electronics work as intended, with a switchable active two-band EQ along with more conventional Volume and Tone controls. The original Leo Quan Badass II bridge also increases the sustain and power that this bass can deliver. The ambered Natural gloss finish highlights the broad grain of the ash body, with pick wear extending above the guard and a few light scuffs on the pickguard extension near the knobs as well. There is buckle rash on the back just south of the belly contour, and some small scattered dings on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is very clean save for one ding behind the nut on the treble side of the carve.
