Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-58MH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, sporting a custom color Lake Placid Blue finish with matching peghead. This “Crafted in Japan” Jazz Bass bass was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside its country of origin. Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, and this bass has a smooth, resonant acoustic response. There’s plenty of midrange presence and articulate growl on tap via the pair of single coil pickups, and rolling off the Tone knob yields ample thump. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .955” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is nigh flawless. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The matching headstock sports a ‘62-style Fender Jazz Bass logo, and the back of the headstock sports a third strap button for further vintage accuracy. The original set of nickel-plated clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with full-size baseplates. The “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, and the chrome-plated control plate and bridge base have plenty of shine, with a light dusting of patina on the steel barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and the three-ply pickguard. The finish is abbreviated "OLB" by Fender Japan for "Old Lake Placid Blue," representing a more vintage accurate and slightly icier shade of this classic Fender custom color (compared to previous Fender Japan iterations). This particular finish is more saturated than most, and the clear coat has a touch of greening. Cosmetic wear is limited to some light buckle rash on the back central to the waist and a handful of small dings on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and lower bout edge. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate and highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple.A Ritter-brand padded gigbag is included.
