Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Jaguar Special HH model JGS-78 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. This discontinued “Crafted in Japan” Jaguar features an HH pickup complement and a rare custom color Candy Apple Red finish with matching headstock.
Featuring an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, this Jaguard has a clear, balanced natural acoustic response with healthy sustain. These qualities are faithfully captured by the stock pair of Dragster humbuckers which have a full and punchy sound. Benefitting from the myriad switching of the original Jaguar design, the guitar boasts a Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn to thicken up the tone, and a bright switch located on the hexagonal control plate to make things extra snappy when desired. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this Jaguar Special HH has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a moderately slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is a dark cut with a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire exhibits faint wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-10 that becomes progressively fainter approaching the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the matching Candy Apple Red headstock, the nickel-plated Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, and the “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended, and the chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, with light patina on the tailpiece and saddles. The Adjusto-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece are akin to what you'd find on any Gibson, ensuring optimal tuning stability and sustain.
Cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red (catalog: OCR/Old Candy Apple Red) finish includes a handful of dings along the perimeter, some light buckle rash on the back at the belly contour, and a few faint scratches and tiny nicks on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
