Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Blue Flower Telecaster Bass '68 vintage reissue in showroom clean, like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A rare and discontinued model made only for the Japanese domestic market, this bass is a faithful reissue of one of the rarest incarnations of the Telecaster Bass, itself a recreation of Fender's mid-50s Precision model. At the heart of the bass is a black bobbin single coil pickup, and the bass delivers a strong fundamental punch with a resonance and thump that cuts through with a different tonal color and more presence than later split coil P Bass pickups. The contoured basswood string-through body helps the bass deliver a very smooth, resonant response, paired with a one-piece maple neck for ideal treble detail and note attack. The bass weighs only 8lbs 9oz, balances well on a strap, and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and fresh 45-105 roundwound strings.

The one-piece maple neck has a round C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 12th. The slender vintage-style frets show no wear with perfectly rounded crowns and notes that ring out clearly along the 34" scale. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures 1.650" in width (just a hair over 1 5/8"). On the headstock, the original long stem tuners turn smoothly with gleaming chrome plating, and the bass has the smaller early '50s headstock profile most associated with the first Precision Basses and later the Telecaster Bass model. The "Crafted in Japan" text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the original electronics work as intended, and the hardware and plastic parts are clean as can be. There's barely a scratch on the Blue Flower finish, which is a textured foil material beneath a clear coat and bursted blue body edges, accented by a transparent single-ply pickguard.

A vintage Japanese form-fit black tolex hardshell case is included.
