Up for sale, a 2004 Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed G&G hardshell case and all hangtags and case candy. One of the most popular (and now discontinued) USA-made Fender reissues, the American Vintage '52 Telecaster has a transparent Butterscotch nitro lacquer finish over an ash body, paired with a one-piece maple neck.Taking advantage of two of the player-friendly options offered with this model from the factory, this Tele has been fitted with the included .047 tone cap (eschewing the far less usable '50s-style wiring) and also boasting the Fender six-saddle bridge which was part of this model's "case candy," ensuring precise intonation (original serialized three-saddle bridge also included). At 9lbs 3oz, this Tele has a distinctive natural heft and rich sustain, chiming with the best and delivering the sinewy snap and chewy twang that put Fender on the map seven decades ago. The guitar is finished in gloss nitro lacquer, delivering a round, powerful acoustic tone with great projection and body, indicative of a guitar that’s been played enough to have an expressive, dynamic sound not afforded a new instrument. We've had this Tele professionally setup and dialed in to perfection here at our shop Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, with fresh 9-42 Fender Bullet strings and slinky action.The maple neck has a U neck profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, not as baseball batty as later ’52 American Vintage profiles, but still quite substantial, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The 1 5/8" nut, 7 1/4" fretboard radius, and vintage-style fretwire will feel intuitive and comfortable to any Fender fan, and the frets retain their full factory height, showing virtually no wear. On the headstock, the original Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The headstock decal is fully intact and in great shape too. On the neck heel and in the pocket, all of the factory stamps are present, with a date on the heel that reads Nov 13, 2003 (an additional factory stamp crosses over into the following year, reading Jan 13th, 2004).All of the electronics work as they should, with Fender's Broadcaster-style flat pole bridge pickup and CTS pots that date to 2003. The guitar's factory wiring has been updated with the included factory tone cap so that the guitar has the conventional Bridge/Neck+Bridge/Neck functionality. The original chrome control plate, knobs, and neck plate are positively gleaming. The Butterscotch finish has great transparency, and cosmetic wear is limited to light pick scuffing on the treble side of the guard, and a few tiny marks on the body as a whole. The lightly ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.The original Fender G&G tweed hardshell case with orange interior is included, along with the chrome "ashtray" bridge cover, three-saddle bridge, and all hangtags and case candy.
