Up for sale, a 2004 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster QMT in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and all hangtags and case candy. This premium, upscale iteration of the Fender American Deluxe Tele is a rare offering with a bevy of premium features including a quilted maple top capping an alder body, a slab 22 fret ebony fretboard, a pair of DFH-1 humbuckers, S-1 switching, and Schaller locking tuners.
A proper "drop top" with contouring of the maple cap where the forearm crosses the top, this Telecaster's tonewoods yield a glassy immediacy and detail. The DFH-1 humbuckers offer humbucker punch and heft, engineered for a broad tonal range between the pickups. The neck pickup meters at 7.8k ohms, with a lush, harmonically-complex tone that retains strong articulation and cut. The bridge pickup meters at a whopping 20k ohms, engineered for high gain and balancing Tele cut with big, tight lows. The S-1 switch enables the humbuckers’ coils to be toggled between series and parallel wiring modes for further unique, slinky sounds at the push of a button. This American Deluxe Telecaster weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck sports Fender’s Modern C profile, a medium depth carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The slab 22-fret ebony fretboard has a 9 1/2“ radius and features abalone inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire has good meat and well-rounded crowns, only exhibiting light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-6. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The locking Schaller tuners ensure ideal pitch stability, and the four-bolt neck plate with micro-tilt adjustment matches the contour of the heel for optimal access to the upper registers of the fretboard.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch, Master Volume and Tone controls, and the S-1 switch on the Volume knob. The Schaller-made string through body bridge has six stainless steel block saddles for optimal intonation.
The gloss Amber finish highlights the deep and dynamic wall-to-wall figuring on the quilted maple top. Exceedingly well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to just a couple small dings and faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is immaculate.
The original brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with all hangtags and case candy.
