Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Telecaster Custom ‘62 vintage reissue model TL62B-75TX in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with factory-installed Fender USA-made Texas Special pickups. This “Crafted in Japan” Tele was produced for the Japanese domestic market, long since discontinued and uncommon outside its country of origin, featuring a gloss Sunburst finish framed by white top and back binding.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, providing a balanced, smooth platform for the Texas Special pickup pair. A pickup that has a bit more kick than a traditional Tele, the Texas Specials offer plenty of twang, snap, and snarl. The guitar weighs 7lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve with ample shoulder in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has Fender’s traditional 7 1/4” radius and flawless slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold stable pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and R-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, with the USA-made Texas Special pickups wired to the original harness with untouched solder joints. Hardware includes the Pat. Pending bridge base with vintage-style spiral saddles, as well as the flat-topped knurled knobs and control plate, which have gleaming chrome plating. The pristine very pale mint green three-ply pickguard rounds out the plastics. This is a notably well-kept example, with cosmetic wear on the gloss three-tone Sunburst finish limited to just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
