Up for sale, a 2004 Epiphone Casino in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and manual. Crafted at the Peerless factory in Korea, this uncommon and since-discontinued iteration of the Casino stacks up well against the Elitist line.
Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has an articulate and airy tone, capturing both the clear note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the hollow construction. The P-90 pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, delivering a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you seek dynamic cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 5lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in for optimal action and intonation with 11-49 roundwound strings.
The neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a dark cut with parallelogram inlay and practically perfect medium jumbo fretwire which shows just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width, consistent with spec for pre-1965 Casino models (and a feature that’s surprisingly uncommon on Casino iterations). The headstock sports an “E” Epsilon silkscreen logo on the truss rod cover, and the stock set of Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
The electronics are untouched, and stock plastics include the quartet of reflector cap knobs and pickguard with raised "E" epsilon. The chrome plated hardware is positively gleaming, including the ABR-1 bridge and trapeze tailpiece. The orange oval label is visible through the F hole, dating the instrument's production to 2004.
The two-tone Vintage Sunburst finish is dark and glossy, highlighting subtle figuring on the bass side of the top; this is a very clean example, with just a handful of tiny dings and faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case with Epiphone "E" gold silkscreen is included, along with the original user manual.
