Up for sale, a 2003 Tokai ES-120 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in Vintage Natural and complete with the original hardshell case and hangtag. An uncommon, upscale, and broadly celebrated iteration of the classic 335 platform, the ES-120 features a nitro lacquer gloss finish over a poly base coat, heavily figured maple body with maple center block, and a mahogany neck.
Replicating the introductory specs of the 335, the guitar features a long guard design (with the pickguard extending past the ABR-1-style bridge) and the distinctive rounded "Mickey Mouse Ear" shaped double cutaways on the figured maple body. Made in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this ES-120 has a balanced, rich acoustic voice that translates well through the PAF-style humbuckers. The snappy articulation of the maple body and the airy qualities of the semi-hollowbody construction make the ES-120 a very versatile instrument, with a bit of growl and great cut in the bridge position, while the neck pickup has a smoothness and heft while still retaining an articulation ideal for complex chord voicings. The instrument weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
