Up for sale, a 2003 Rickenbacker 325C58 Capri in perfect working order, complete with the original silver hardshell case and hangtags. This rare and discontinued Rickenbacker model is the most exacting reissue of the 325 Capri ever offered by Rickenbacker, with the "C" series instruments offering specs that faithfully reproduce Rickenbaker's most coveted models.
A short scale Rickenbacker that truly captures the classic jangle and percussive rhythm familiar to any Beatles fan, the 325C58 features a semi-hollow alder body that has a distinctive natural acoustic resonance. This Ric has been modified from stock to match John Lennon's instrument. These modifications include a Bigsby B5 vibrato, Bigsby dogbone floating aluminum bridge, and a quartet of Burns knobs (oven knobs also included). The instrument is also very easy on the back at only 5lbs 1oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 12-52 strings, accurate intonation, and low action.
The alder neck has a round D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .925" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. On the rosewood fretboard, the slender fretwire is flawless, playing cleanly up the 21" scale length. The nut width measures 1.650". On the headstock, the original "Ric-Tite" tuning machines are faithful reissues of the '50s Grover Sta-Tite design, and these tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The gold lucite Rickenbacker truss rod cover is intact.
The electronics all function as intended, and the wiring harness features the original Alpha pots and a red "dynamite" Astron tone cap. The harness has been rewired so that each Toaster Top single coil has its own dedicated Volume knob, along with a Master Tone control. Hardware includes the Lennon-ized Bigsby B5 vibrato and Bigsby "dogbone" aluminum floating bridge, and the Bigsby is quite responsive, with an arm that sits at an ideal height off the body. Plastics comprise the single-ply gold pickguard and quartet of Burns knobs. The serial number on the elongated chrome mono jack plate dates the guitar's manufacture to 2003.
The gloss Jetglo finish exhibits touched-up finish chips on the treble-side headstock tip and treble-side body point, with a few minor marks, primarily on the back, and light scuffing on the back lower bout body edge. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original silver tolex hardshell case with blue plush interior is included, along with the original hangtags and factory paperwork.
