Up for sale, a 2003 Gibson Steve Howe ES-175 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A one-owner example complete with the original receipt, this Steve Howe model was designed to the exacting requirements and standards of the Yes guitarist (who is famously very particular about his instruments). This iteration of the ES-175 platform is modeled after Howe’s primary 1964 ES-175, featuring a few unique tweaks including a ‘64 T-Trapeze “zig-zag” tailpiece, L-5-style ebony bridge base, a keystone tuner button-style switch tip, and Grover Rotomatic tuners.
This Steve Howe ES-175 features a fully hollow body with three-ply maple/poplar/maple construction, a mahogany neck, and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has an articulate, snappy treble response, with a warm, broad tonal profile. The ‘57 Classic PAF humbucker pair are sweet-sounding and bold, with great clarity and a touch of growl in the bridge position, and lots of breadth when flipped to the neck position humbucker, perfect for smooth, mellow Jazz tonalities. This Steve Howe ES-175 weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action and accurate intonation.
