Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 2003 Gibson SJ-200 jumbo acoustic guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and featuring a Fishman Ellipse Blend pickup system. Finished in Ebony high gloss nitro lacquer, this Gibson boasts a solid Sitka spruce top with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, paired with solid maple back and sides.

The model described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops" is truly an impressive instrument both visually and sonically, and few acoustic instruments can match the sheer projection and power of an SJ-200. With a lower bout that's 17" in width, and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the sound is broad and detailed, taking full advantage of the articulate treble bounce of maple as a tonewood. The instrument has a smooth, authoritative overarching sound, more relaxed and open-sounding than a brand new Jumbo. Plain strings are sparkling and punchy, while bass frequencies have exquisite bloom and sustain with a high volume ceiling for defined, full-sounding individual strings. Weighing 5lbs 4oz, this SJ-200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with bronze 12-53 strings and comfortable action all the way up the fretboard.

The two-piece maple neck with walnut center strip has a slender C-shaped profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and an effortless feel, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard features graduated crown inlays, refretted with medium jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat, showing just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the upgraded carved bone nut measures 1.725" in width, ideal for comfortable chording and fingerstyle playing if desired. The bound headstock features the Gibson logo and crown inlaid in pearl, along with Kluson Deluxe tuners with aged keystone buttons and push-in vintage-spec bushings.

On the body, the guitar features the SJ-200's iconic flower and dot silkscreened graphics on the tortoise pickguard, as well as the open moustache rosewood bridge that defines the look of a true Gibson jumbo with vintage spec pearl inlay framing the bridge pins. The saddle has been upgraded with a piece of unbleached carved and compensated bone, and the saddle has ample height. The Fishman Ellipse Blend preamp allows for easy and accurate replication of an instrument's sound as mic'd in a professional studio. The ergonomic design of the Ellipse Blend puts slider controls at the player’s fingertips, helping to maintain a natural playing position. The Ellipse Blend features Volume and Blend controls for finding the perfect balance between the gooseneck microphone and undersaddle pickup.

The Ebony gloss nitro lacquer finish shows faint, broad lacquer checking on top and also a few small, shallow marks on the lower bout. There is light buckle rash at the waist on the back, and additional faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss, also largely on the back. A strap button has been added to the neck heel, and the gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless and free of palm wear.

The original hardshell case is included.
