Up for sale, a 2003 Gibson Flying V '67 vintage reissue model in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and Gibson/Yamano factory paperwork. Gibson's USA made guitars distributed via Yamano in Japan are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.A discontinued model with a gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish, this Flying V boasts solid mahogany construction, loaded with Gibson's 496R and 500T humbuckers. The 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power with its ceramic magnet, adding more highs with increased definition and no mud in high gain scenarios. The 500T is one of Gibson’s most powerful pickups, containing a three ceramic magnet structure, which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. At 7lbs 3oz, this V is very easy on the back and has been dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender '60s C shape, almost inferring a D carve, as the shoulders are nicely rounded where the mahogany meets the thick slab rosewood fretboard. The profile measures .785" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. The stock frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat, showing light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-12. The guitar conforms to traditional Gibson spec with a 1 11/16" wide nut and 24 3/4" scale length. On the headstock, the original Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with greened tulip buttons turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics work as intended, with the dual humbuckers wired to individual Volume controls and a Master Tone knob. The chrome hardware and plastic parts are notably clean, and the guitar boasts a gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish, not to be confused with the lesser "Faded" series models. Cosmetic wear is limited to a spot of targeted buckle rash on the bass side and a few additional minor nicks and finish scratches on the body as a whole, while the gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original black tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the original Gibson/Yamano manual, hangtag, and receipt.
