Up for sale, a 2003 Gibson ES-135 H in 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a satin nitro lacquer Cherry finish. Essentially a hybrid of an ES-335 and an ES-175, this unique Gibson model boasts a thinline semi-hollow body, with a maple center block to improve note attack and reduce feedback. The result is a guitar that has the good looks of an ES-175 and the enduring popularity of the 335's tonal palette and slender body depth. An uncommon iteration of the ES-135, this version features both the traditional F holes of Gibson's upper tiered 135s, and the easy access rear control cavity cover of the "Studio" version.
Outfitted with the original pair of Gibson's '57 Classic PAF pickups, this ES-135 delivers plenty of bite, growl, and harmonic richness in the bridge position, contrasting nicely with the girth and warmth of the neck pickup. Well-balanced on a strap and weighing 7lbs 10oz, this ES-135 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation.
The three-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder and ideal heft, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret, graduating to .975" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the nigh flawless medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly in every register. The scale length measures 24 3/4", and the nut is a full 1 11/16" in width. The headstock has a vertical script ES-135 silkscreen and gold Gibson logo, retaining the stock Grover Rotomatic tuners with tulip buttons.
All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup wired to a three-way pickup selector toggle. The PAF stickers are intact on the baseplates of the '57 Classic humbuckers, and the wiring is untouched from the factory. The chrome pickup covers, Nashville bridge, and trapeze tailpiece are in fantastic shape with bright plating. The Gibson oval label with handwritten serial and model info is visible through the bass side F hole, matching the serial number imprinted into the headstock.
The satin nitro lacquer Cherry finish shows pick scuffing on the treble side of the strum path, extending to the knobs, with some faint finish scratches and minor marks on the back, and a small spot of minimal buckle rash at the treble-side waist. The neck finish has been buffed to a semi-gloss by the palm with faint wear through the top layer of finish on the profile and just a few shallow marks.
A padded gigbag is included.
