Up for sale, a 2003 Fender American Vintage '62 Telecaster Custom in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags, case candy and brown tolex G&G hardshell case. A discontinued model with a nitro lacquer three-tone Sunburst finish framed by cream top and back body binding, this Tele features an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard.
The guitar delivers a big, ringing acoustic voice which translates well through the original pair of black bobbin single coil pickups. While the bridge pickup has a distinctive chewy twang and sparkle, the neck pickup has a silky smooth quality and bell-like chime. With both pickups engaged, the guitar has a clear percussive snap, equal parts cut and warmth and ideal for rhythm work. The guitar balances well on a strap and weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. On the slab rosewood fretboard, the slender frets retain their full factory height and are exceedingly clean. The guitar plays well in all registers, and the neck is straight with ideal relief. The nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines are intact, along with the "Custom Telecaster" waterslide decal.
All of the electronics function as intended, with original black bobbin Fender single coils and CTS pots that date to 2003. The chrome plating on the hardware is practically perfect, and the gloss nitro lacquer Sunburst finish is accented by a parchment pickguard. There's barely a scratch on the body, and the lightly ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is equally pristine.
The original Fender-branded G&G Deluxe brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with the case candy and all original factory hangtags and paperwork.
