Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 2003 Fender American Vintage '57 Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This discontinued model boasts a gloss nitro lacquer two-tone Sunburst finish and trio of black bobbin single coil pickups. Upgraded from stock (original pickups also included), this set of pickups (brand unknown) has all the hallmarks of vintage Fender design, featuring staggered, unbeveled alnico magnets and push-back cloth-covered leads, all metering at 5.8k ohms. The pickups are bouncy and clear with a nice midrange chirp and treble sparkle. The middle pickup is RWRP, and via the stock three-way switch, the "in-between" sounds are hum-cancelling with good quack and snappy cut. Particularly smooth and lively-sounding even unplugged, this alder-bodied Strat weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and slinky action.

The one-piece maple neck has a medium depth soft V profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The 7 1/4" radius fretboard retains the original slender vintage-spec fretwire, and the frets show only light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-8. The neck is straight, the truss rod is ideally adjusted, and the guitar plays well in every register up the 25 1/2" scale. An upgraded hand-carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the original Stratocaster waterslide decal is intact along with the original Kluson-style tuning machines. The neck heel is pencil dated, and the heel and pocket have factory stamps from July of 2003.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the substituted pickup set wired to the original three-way pickup selector and CTS pots that date to the 5th week of 2003. The chrome plating on the hardware has plenty of shine on the bridge base and jack cup, with light patina across the saddles. The vibrato responds smoothly with three springs and the stock arm. Plastics are all original and quite clean including the single-ply pickguard and cream pickup covers and knobs.

The two-tone nitro lacquer gloss Sunburst finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and cosmetic wear includes some small dings on the body as a whole and light scuffing on the back lower bout body edge. The nitro gloss on the neck profile shows just a few minor marks, and there is one small spot of wear through the fretboard gloss on fret 14.

The original tweed Fender G&G Deluxe hardshell case is included, along with all original hangtags and the original trio of pickups.
