Up for sale, a 2002 Martin HD-28V Vintage Series dreadnought in excellent condition, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. This HD-28V captures Martin's Pre-War golden age both tonally and aesthetically, featuring the time tested tonewood combination of a solid Sitka spruce top with forward shifted, scalloped X bracing, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with an ebony fingerboard. Other premium features include herringbone/grained ivoroid binding, a zigzag backstripe, prominent V neck profile shape, snowflake fretboard inlay, through saddle, and open-gear butterbean tuners.

A real cannon in terms of projection, this Martin has incredible power and detail, thanks in no small part to the scalloped, forward-shifted X bracing on the top. Extremely bold and lively, this Martin has a relaxed, open-sounding character befitting a top that’s had a couple decades to open up. The guitar offers plenty of boom and kick in the bass, with a smooth, detailed treble range and Martin’s signature piano-like clarity. This Martin weighs 4lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

The Aging Toner-tinted Sitka spruce top is framed by Pre-War spec herringbone binding. Crack-free, cosmetic wear on this guitar includes some small scuffs and nicks on the back, and one minor finish chip along the back binding, with similar light playwear on top. An oversized endpin has been installed, and a strap button has been added to the neck heel. The satin lacquer finish on the neck profile has just a couple tiny, shallow marks.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included, and all but one of the latches is functional. A number of pieces of paperwork are included as well, reflecting that this Martin was originally distributed within Japan.
