Up for sale, a 2002 History MMBJ bass in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Part of the Kids Musician Series, this short scale J-bass was made at the famed Fujigen factory exclusively for the Japanese domestic and not intended for export. This MMBJ delivers plenty of bridge pickup growl, burp, and aggressive cut, with a neck pickup that is inherently warmer and thumpier. Featherweight at 6lbs 14oz, this History has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-100 strings, accurate intonation and comfortable action.
The one-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, slight shoulders, and a fast feel, measuring .765” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and pristine stock slender fretwire. The bass plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is 30 1/2”, and the nut measures a slender 1 1/2“ in width. The matching Candy Apple Red finish features the History logo and set of clover button tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well, showing light surface patina.
The electronics all function as intended, with individual Volume controls for each single coil pickup and a Master Tone. The chrome hardware has ample shine, and the gloss Candy Apple Red finish is notably clean, with cosmetic wear limited to faint marks and scuffs in the finish relegated to the back and lower bout body edge The neck profile sports a pristine gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
