Up for sale, a 2002 Gibson Flying V Voodoo Juju model in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original faux snakeskin hardshell case and hangtags. This unique V was part of Gibson’s original Voodoo series, released in 2002, sporting the eye-catching “Juju” finish, satin ebony with red grain filler, highlighting the grain of the ash body wood and complimented by matching red/black hardware and plastics.Tonewoods include a swamp ash body, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard, and this V has a unique acoustic profile, combining the midrange complexity, punch and note attack of ash with the glassy cut of ebony, qualities faithfully captured by the stock pair of “Black Magic” double-slug 496R/500T humbuckers. These punchy humbuckers feature ceramic magnet construction, delivering ripping cut and thick crunch in the bridge position and rich, articulate roar at the neck. This Voodoo V weighs 7lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The thick slab ebony fretboard has a red acrylic Voodoo skull inlay at the 5th fret, and the medium jumbo fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. The headstock sports a red Gibson logo on the truss rod cover, and the black Grover Rotomatic tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics function as intended; the stock 496R/500T humbuckers are governed by a three-way pickup selector switch with independent Volume controls and a Master Tone knob. The bridge and tailpiece both have clean black plating, and plastics comprise the trio of red/black bonnet knobs, red/black pickup covers, and a one-ply black pickguard. The grain in the swamp ash body is highlighted by the unique satin “Juju” finish with red grain filler, and cosmetic wear is limited to a scant few minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile sports the same flawless Juju finish. The original Gibson USA-branded red faux snakeskin case with form-fit black plush interior is included, along with the factory hangtags.
