Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Telecaster Thinline ‘70 vintage reissue model TN70-MAHO in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a tweed hardshell case. This uncommon “Crafted in Japan” Telecaster faithfully captures the spirit and sound of a genuine vintage example, featuring a semi-hollow mahogany body and a maple neck.
The single coil pickups deliver plenty of the traditional Tele bite, twang, and clarity, as well as a warmth and smooth note attack due to the body wood and semi-hollow construction. This Tele will growl and cut like few can, while being extremely easy on the back at only 6lbs 5oz. We've had this Tele Thinline professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is immaculate. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock sports a block Telecaster logo, and the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and P-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt “F”-embossed neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended; the pickups are governed by a three-way pickup selector switch with Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated flat-topped knurled knobs are notably clean, as are the “Pat. Pend” bridge base and steel barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the switch tip and the dimensional three-ply white pearloid pickguard.
This guitar is remarkably clean, with cosmetic wear on the gloss Walnut finish limited to a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the back. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.
An upgraded tweed hardshell case with black plush interior is included (this model would have shipped from Fender Japan in a gigbag).
