Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Telecaster Custom ‘72 vintage reissue Futoshi Abe Signature model TC72TS in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A unique iteration of the Tele Custom platform offered by Fender Japan only for the Japanese domestic market, this Custom is a Futoshi Abe signature model, best known for his work with Thee Michelle Gun Elephant. The Tele features a six-saddle bridge, a redesigned control layout, and distinctive single-ply white pearloid pickguard.
Weighing 7lbs 14oz with an ash body, this guitar has a bold, clear acoustic tone with great sustain. With a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a traditional Tele single coil at the bridge, this Tele has a very broad tonal spectrum, from thick, meaty humbucker tones in the neck position to chiming, twangy single coil tones at the bridge. Of course the middle position is truly a "best of both worlds" setting, and the two pickups balance well both in terms of output and their respective tonal attributes. This Telecaster Custom benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: U (medium depth), measuring .855” 1st fret, .925” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, vintage 7 1/4“ radius, dot inlays
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1 5/8”, bone
-Tuners: Gotoh
-Serialization: “Crafted in Japan,” P0-prefix
Body Specs:
-Wood: Ash
-Pickups: Wide Range humbucker, TL-Single
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone, three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Six-saddle bridge
-Plastics: One-ply white pearloid pickguard, witch hat knobs, switch tip
The gloss Black finish has a few small finish chips on the body edges, some minor dings and finish scuffs from modest use, and a couple lines of finish checking across the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
A gigbag is included.
