Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-70TX in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. This “Crafted in Japan” Strat is an upscale iteration rarely seen outside of its country of origin, featuring USA-made Custom Shop black bobbin Texas Special pickups. This model was designed to pay homage to the golden era Pre-CBS Strat circa 1962, with a traditional tonewood complement including an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The factory-installed Fender USA Texas Special pickups match vintage spec with black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads, offering great midrange chirp, tight bass, and a slightly aggressive overwound snap. Via the five-way pickup selector switch, the guitar delivers plenty of sparkle and spank in the bridge position, snappy, thinned-out quack at the “in-between” positions, and a throaty zing at the neck that's harmonically rich and great for lead work. This Strat weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4” radius and retains the flawless stock slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. The headstock features a Pre-CBS small Strat shape with original Kluson-style Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and P-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. On the body, the electronics all work as they should, with three staggered pole alnico V magnet Fender USA-made Texas Special black bobbin single coils wired to the stock harness with untouched solder joints. The pickups are governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone controls. The vintage-style vibrato is faithful to Fender's early 1960's design with a full-size trem block, actuating easily for quick surfy warbles and deeper dives. The chrome hardware is bright and clean with just a hint of surface patina. Plastics include the lightly aged pickup covers and knobs, and the three-ply parchment pickguard displays some light pick scuffing on the treble side of the strum path. This is an extremely well-kept example; the gloss Black finish is practically perfect, with barely a scratch on the body. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is equally clean.A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
