Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57-58US in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This “Crafted in Japan” Strat was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is uncommon outside of its country of origin, loaded with a trio of USA-made American Vintage 57/62 pickups.

The basswood body is paired with a one-piece maple neck, ensuring a balanced, snappy acoustic tone, and the USA-made Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups match vintage spec with black fiber bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. Via the five-way switch, these Fender single coils have a sparkling treble cut, tight bass, and a dynamic, clear quality, well-suited for chiming cleans and overdriven sizzle. This Strat weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a substantial C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, the neck heel and pocket retain the factory stamps, and the “Crafted in Japan” text and P-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, and the Fender 57/62 pickups are wired to an upgraded harness with modern CTS pots and a Fender Pure Vintage Wax Paper tone cap. The chrome-plating on the jack cup and bridge base shines like new, with patina across the “Fender”-embossed saddles. Plastics comprise the uniformly aged trio of lightly-worn original knobs and the one-ply white pickguard, which has some requisite scuffing along the strum path.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss two-tone Sunburst finish includes a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the lower bout perimeter and back. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, flawless save for one tiny chip on the treble-side shoulder at fret 3 that has no impact on playability.

A gigbag is included.
