Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Mustang Bass in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this Mustang is a faithful and discontinued reissue of the classic short scale Fender model, with a factory installed split coil Seymour Duncan pickup. Finished in a rich shade of Daphne Blue, this iteration of the Mustang Bass was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. There's a certain pluck and punch unique to this bass that's particularly appealing and sits well in a mix, with a thump that fills out the low end nicely while being a bit more focused than a Precision Bass. More aggressive and midrange forward than a P, this Mustang Bass is strung with roundwound 45-100 strings, delivering an articulate top end and a touch of growl. The instrument is also particularly lightweight at only 8lbs. We've had this Mustang Bass dialed in to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with optimal action and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck features a slender C profile carve with rounded shoulders, lightly rolled fretboard edges, and a hair more heft and substance as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the original slender frets which show sparingly little wear, playing cleanly in every register. The scale length is 30", while the fretboard radius matches vintage spec at 7 1/4", and the nut width measures 1 1/2". On the headstock, the clover button tuning gears turn very smoothly, and the block "Mustang Bass" logo is present on the headstock face. The "Crafted in Japan" text and P-prefix serial number are present just above the four-bolt F neck plate.

The simple and straightforward electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone controls to govern the split coil Seymour Duncan pickup. The chrome bridge and control plate shine like new, and the white pearloid pickguard has great dimension, contrasting with the Daphne Blue gloss finish. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a couple tiny shallow nicks and exceedingly faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

A padded Fender-branded gigbag is included.
