Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Jazz Bass '75 vintage reissue model JB75-90US in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. One of the more rare and upscale Jazz Bass models produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market (and now discontinued), this "Crafted in Japan" model features a bound maple fretboard with pearloid block inlay, and most importantly, factory-installed USA Fender pickups.

Weighing 10lbs 5oz with an ash body, there's a strong fundamental punch and sustain to the tone, and the low end is thick and focused, balanced by the inherent articulation and note attack of the maple fretboard. There's a growl and clarity to the bridge pickup, balanced by the fuller thump of the neck position single coil, yet naturally many of the instrument's best tones come from finding the perfect blend between the two. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazz Bass is strung with 45-105 roundwound strings and has been dialed in for optimal action and intonation.

The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. The bound maple fretboard has stock medium jumbo fretwire which has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only faint wear beneath the A and D strings on the crowns of frets 1-7. The bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The stock bone nut measures 1 1/2" in width. The headstock features full-size vintage-style Fender tuners with clover buttons, and the P-prefix serial number is just below the Jazz Bass logo. The "Crafted in Japan" text is present above the three-bolt F neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, with a pair of the same pickups used on Fender's American Standard Jazz Bass line. There is patina on the pickup poles and to a lesser extent on the barrel bridge saddles, with bright chrome plating on the bridge base and control plate. Plastic parts include the original knob set and parchment three-ply pickguard. The Natural gloss finish exhibits scattered dings across the back, with similar but more restrained wear on top and some light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.

This discontinued Jazz Bass was exclusive to the Japanese market and rarely seen outside its country of origin. With premium features and a pair of factory-installed USA-made pickups, it's a prime example of the build quality and attention to detail of Fender Japan's vintage reissue instruments.
