Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-58 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This “Crafted in Japan” Jazz Bass was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside of its country of origin. Tonewoods include a basswood body, a figured maple neck, and a thick slab rosewood fretboard, and the instrument has a smooth, resonant natural acoustic response. There's plenty of midrange presence and articulate growl on tap via the original single coil pair, and rolling back the Tone control yields ample thump. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a thick slab with a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius and pristine stock slender fretwire, playing cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width, and the headstock sports the correct '62-style Fender Jazz Bass decal, with clover button nickel-plated tuning machines that turn smoothly, exhibiting an even dusting of surface patina. The “Crafted in Japan” text and P-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as they should, with the pickups wired to a standard Volume/Volume/Tone Jazz Bass control array. The chrome plating on the hardware is bright and clean, including the control plate and bridge base, with a touch of patina on the steel barrel saddles. The four-ply red tortoise pickguard and original trio of knobs round out the plastics, all notably clean. The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish is bright and vibrant, with a broad central red band. This is a well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to a handful of minor dings along the lower bout body edge, and some light scuffing on the back along the lower bout edge. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless, highlighting subtle birdseye and flame figuring in the maple.A padded faux leather gigbag is included.
