Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Jaguar HH model JGS-78 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This discontinued model was sold exclusively within Japan, pairing a classic Fender Jaguar platform with more Gibson-centric pickups and hardware. Visually striking with copious chrome hardware and a mint green pickguard, this Jaguar HH is outfitted with the stock pair of Dragster humbuckers which have a full and punchy sound. Benefitting from the myriad switching of the original Jaguar design, the guitar boasts a Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn to thicken up the sound, and a bright switch located on the hexagonal control plate to make things extra snappy when desired. This alder-bodied Jaguar weighs 8lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a particularly thick cut, even for a slab, and the slender frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24" scale with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod and straight neck. The nut measures just shy of 1 11/16" (1.665"). The headstock retains the original Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
All of the electronics function as intended, and the chrome hardware has plenty of shine. The Adjusto-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece are akin to what you'd find on any Gibson, ensuring optimal tuning stability. Cosmetic wear is limited to a touched up finish chip on the treble side cutaway, and a couple smaller additional touched-up marks in the black of the Sunburst on the body edges. There are a few small dings central to the back, and a few minor marks on the lower bout body edge as well. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
