2001 Rickenbacker 4003 Electric Bass Midnight Blue w/ Case, 4001

Up for sale, a 2001 Rickenbacker 4003 bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Finished in a now-discontinued Midnight Blue gloss, this iconic instrument boasts a maple neck through body and bound rosewood fingerboard, yielding healthy sustain and an immediate, resonant quality that translates faithfully through the Hi-Gain pickup pair. These single coils have a distinctive midrange heft and tonal color, with plenty of growl and low end richness. Weighing 9lbs 3oz, this Ric has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a round and substantial D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, measuring .925" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. The gloss-finished rosewood fretboard sports triangular pearl inlays, and the medium jumbo fretwire has ample height with well-rounded crowns, only showing light wear on frets 1-3. The bass plays cleanly up the 33 1/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive pair of optimally adjusted truss rods. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and the "Rickenbacker" logo truss rod cover is intact.All of the electronics function flawlessly, and the Hi-Gain pickup pair is wired to the stereo Rick-o-Sound 1/4" outputs. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming including the bridge and pickup bezel, and all original plastics are present and notably clean as well. The Midnight Blue gloss finish is dark and rich, exhibiting subtle cloudiness in the gloss on the bass side of the top and adjacent to the bridge, as well as some finish spotting in the clear coat across the back. There's one finish scratch on the bass-side body horn on top, and a handful of additional minor dings and scuffs on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.The original Rickenbacker-branded molded hardshell case with blue plush interior is included.
