Up for sale, a 2001 Paul Reed Smith Singlecut “10 Top” Brazilian Rosewood in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and tags. A rare limited edition model limited to 250 instruments, this PRS features a solid carved Brazilian rosewood neck.
This PRS body shape was responsible for the 2004 Gibson/PRS lawsuit, wherein Gibson attempted to sue PRS for the Singlecut’s similarities to the iconic Les Paul. And while Gibson was initially successful, the ruling was overturned on appeal. This particular pre-lawsuit iteration of the Singlecut features a bookmatched "10 Top" with straight tiger flame finished in McCarty Tobacco Sunburst, a mahogany body, a Wide-Fat neck profile carve, and a pair of PRS #7 humbuckers.
This guitar delivers ample natural sustain, woody warmth, and singing treble chime, qualities faithfully captured by the stock pair of #7 humbuckers. These pickups have the tonal profile of a PAF-style humbucker, with spongy lows, great warmth, singing highs, and a clear midrange. The bridge pickup is wound slightly hotter (metering at 8.5k ohms) for an extra hit of oomph and growl. This PRS weighs 10lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The McCarty Tobacco Sunburst gloss finish highlights the broad, lively figuring in the bookmatched tiger maple 10 Top, framed by flame maple binding. There are a couple small areas of worming/wear on top from wrist jewelry, at the bass-side lower bout edge and just above the knobs. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to a few tiny marks and light finish scratches in the clear coat on the back. The thin satin finish on the solid carved Brazilian rosewood neck is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the second set of factory control cavity covers (inked with matching serial), and a couple tags.
