Up for sale, a 2001 Martin OM-28V Cutaway in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A one-off, custom-ordered Martin (complete with "Custom" stamp on the heel block), this OM-28V features a traditional Pre-War feature set including herringbone trim, yet with the notable addition of a cutaway for increased access to the higher registers of the fretboard. Gold hardware and an upscale vertical "C.F. Martin" bound headstock overlay also elevates this OM above standard production examples.

Features include a solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped 1/4" X-bracing, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with a slab ebony fingerboard. Benefitting from Martin's longer 25.4" scale, this orchestra body acoustic has an extremely bold tone with tons of definition and clarity. The top has a more relaxed, open sound, having been worked-in over the past 20+ years, and the treble register has a singing, sparkling sound with a certain immediacy and great note articulation, while the bass is full and round with more power and punch than a 000. This Martin weighs 4lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

The one-piece mahogany neck has Martin’s Modified V profile carve, a medium depth, soft V-shape measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 9th. The bound ebony fretboard has a 16” radius and features abalone diamond inlay. The slender fretwire is in great shape, with well-rounded crowns, only showing light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25.4” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The upgraded nut measures 1 3/4” in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The bound headstock features a rosewood veneer and vertical Martin inlay, part of the upscale feature set of this custom-ordered Martin. The original gold open-gear tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with butterbean buttons.

The ebony bridge is a replacement, carved to the exact specs of the original, with a new carved compensated bone through saddle, sitting flush with the Sitka spruce top on all edges. The guitar has been fitted with an undersaddle transducer pickup complete with 1/4" endpin jack.

The gloss nitro lacquer finish is framed by herringbone binding, and the top features Martin’s Aging Toner for a more ambered appearance. There is very limited lacquer checking on the top at the lower bout, and cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to a few tiny dings and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is practically perfect.

The original Martin-branded black tolex hardshell case with green plush interior is included; one latch on the case has been replaced, and the original latch is present inside the case.
