Up for sale, a 2001 Jackson Stars KS-138 Kelly Star in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original form-fit gigbag and hangtags. A Japanese domestic market offering virtually unseen outside of its country of origin, the Jackson Stars instruments are the direct descendants of the Grover Jackson line, expertly crafted at the Chu Shin factory. This particular model is a notably rare example, featuring a body shape designed exclusively for the Jackson Stars line that combines the Kelly and Randy Rhoads shapes for an aggressive X-shaped look, loaded with a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers.
This KS-138 features maple neck-through construction with alder body wings and a bound 24-fret rosewood fretboard, weighing 8lbs 4oz. The Seymour Duncan humbuckers comprise a TB-5 at the bridge and a JB at the neck: the TB-5 Custom Trembucker at the bridge yields aggressive midrange, treble attack, and exceptional sustain, perfect for screaming solos, with great harmonic density. The JB is SD’s most popular pickup and the original hot-rodded humbucker; this high-power pickup delivers full, powerful lows, crisp and detailed highs, and an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords and translates to a singing, vocal-like quality for melodic playing. This KS-138 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.
