Up for sale, a 2001 Gretsch 6120N "New Nashville" model in near mint, 100% original condition and perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A very rare iteration of the 6120 platform only offered from 2001-2002 in sparingly small quantities, this Gretsch features a distinctive florentine cutaway, semi-hollowbody construction with a slender 1 11/16" body depth, and an Adjusto-matic bridge, ensuring optimal tuning stability, even with liberal Bigsby use. While the 6120 has for decades defined the Gretsch sound for twang, Western Swing, Rockabilly, and all manner of other genres and niches, this 6120N is the perfect middle ground for players seeking the Gretsch tonal palette yet with the feedback rejection and immediacy of the semi-hollowbody design, more akin to a Gibson ES model. This guitar boasts the high quality craftsmanship and exceptional fit and finish work associated with the Fujigen factory in Japan. Some of the finer points of this Gretsch include the 16" wide maple body with bound oversized F holes, two-piece rock maple neck, bound ebonized rosewood fingerboard with hump block inlay, gold plexi pickguard, gold-plated hardware, medium jumbo fretwire, and Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece. The semi-hollow maple construction delivers a full, percussive, and articulate voice when strummed acoustically that translates well through the alnico magnet Filter'Tron humbuckers. Plugged in, the guitar has a clarity and richness in all pickup positions, reproducing complex chord voicings with stunning ease. This guitar is lightweight at only 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, 10-46 strings, and spot-on intonation. The two-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with slight shoulders and a fast, easy-playing feel, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret, graduating to .910” at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard features hump block inlays and original medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are practically perfect with their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear. The scale length is 24.6", and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The bound headstock boasts a set of original Gretsch-branded Rotomatic-style tuners, and the face features a Gretsch "T-Roof" logo. The body sports a striking Western Orange Stain gloss finish, and this particularly warm, saturated version of Gretsch's most iconic finish highlights the grain of the maple. The finish is framed with multi-ply binding, and the gold hardware is bright and clean, exhibiting only light patina on the Bigsby tailpiece and bass side of the Adjusto-matic bridge. The bridge works well in tandem with the Bigsby B6 tailpiece for quick warbles and deep dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease and offering optimal intonation and stability. All of the electronics work as they should, with the Filter'Trons wired to a three-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume control on the treble-side cutaway, individual Volume controls for each pickup, and a Master Tone control. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a couple exceedingly faint finish scratches and nicks in the clear coat of the gloss on the back, while the neck profile is flawless. The original Gretsch black tolex hardshell is included.
