Up for sale, a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and Gibson/Yamano manual. Ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience. From an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production, this Les Paul makes the most of the classic combination of a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body, carved maple top, and genuine ebony fretboard, delivering a bold, muscly acoustic voice with great articulation and warmth. Weighing 9lbs 9oz, this Les Paul has and impressive clarity, punch, and midrange presence. The original 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup yielding more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup is tailored for gain with plenty of output and roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Les Paul is everything a top-tier Gibson model was designed to be.The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender 60s-style C-shaped profile carve at the nut with notable roundness and heft as you travel up the fretboard, filling out to proper “baseball bat” proportions by the 5th fret and beyond, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th. The ebony fretboard sports pearl block inlay and original fretwire which retains its full factory height. The practically perfect frets have well-rounded crowns, just shy of medium jumbo. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted, and the guitar plays easily in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock has all the classic appointments of a Les Paul Custom, with multi-ply binding, split diamond pearl inlay, and "Custom" truss rod cover. The original Grover Rotomatic tuners have metal tulip buttons, turning smoothly and holding pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, with a pair of stock Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers wired to the original harness with untouched solder joints and Gibson-embossed Alpha pots. The hardware includes the Nashville bridge and stopbar, and the gold plating shows notable patina through the plating. Plastics include a quartet of black speed knobs, the multi-ply pickguard, and switch surround and tip. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish is limited to a spot of very light buckle rash at the bass-side waist on the back, and just a few additional minor marks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile is flawless. The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, along with the Gibson/Yamano manual.
