Up for sale, a 2001 Gibson Flying V '67 vintage reissue model, honestly played and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A discontinued model with a gloss Alpine White nitro lacquer finish, this Flying V boasts solid mahogany construction and an uncommon ebony fingerboard, loaded with Gibson's 496R and 500T humbuckers. The 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power with its ceramic magnet, adding more highs with increased definition and no mud in high gain scenarios. The 500T is one of Gibson’s most powerful pickups, containing a three ceramic magnet structure, which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. At 7lbs 5oz, this V is lightweight, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender 60s-style C-shaped profile carve yet with round, inviting shoulders providing a feel both fast and substantial, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. On the ebony fretboard, the stock frets have good meat, showing light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-10. The guitar conforms to traditional Gibson spec with a 1 11/16" wide nut and 24 3/4" scale length. The headstock at one time had a different set of tuners, with singular filled and touched-up mounting holes just inset from the Kluson-style Gibson Deluxe tuners currently installed which have vintage-correct keystone buttons and push-in bushings. All of the electronics work as intended, with the original humbuckers wired to individual Volume controls and a Master Tone knob. The wiring harness features new CTS 500k pots and a premium Sprague Orange Drop tone cap. The chrome-plated hardware includes the Nashville bridge and corresponding stopbar, and plastics include the original pickguard and a replacement set of black reflector cap knobs. There is pick scuffing across the guard and faint discoloration adjacent to the humbuckers from added pickup rings which were subsequently removed. The Alpine White finish shows graceful yellowing of the gloss, with additional dings and sticker-related wear on both body wings on top. There is buckle rash across the back, some finish chipping on the back body edge central to the V, and additional minor marks from honest use on the body as a whole. The nitro gloss is clean and smooth on the neck, with palm wear through the clear coat on the shoulders and central to the carve on the neck profile. The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
