Up for sale, a 2001 Seymour Duncan DJ-110M75 J-style bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An upscale modern iteration of the Jazz Bass platform produced in Japan by ESP and marketed under the Seymour Duncan name, this Traditional Series bass captures the look and feel of a genuine ‘70s example. Tonewoods include an ash body, maple neck, and bound maple fretboard, with USA-made pickups and a custom color Fiesta Red nitro lacquer finish.
Weighing 11lbs 6oz, this bass has plenty of natural sustain and sonic authority on tap, with a resonant, articulate acoustic profile faithfully captured by the USA-made Seymour Duncan single coil pickups. These pickups feature black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads and alnico magnet construction, delivering plenty of traditional Jazz Bass growl and upper midrange burp, with a clear treble register grind and broad, defined low end, particularly with the neck pickup favored. This DJ-110M75 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .985” at the 12th. The bound maple fretboard features pearloid block inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The original bone nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The headstock has a bullet truss nut and Seymour Duncan script logo, and the clover button tuning machines function reliably.
The pickup pair is governed by a traditional JB-style control configuration, and the wiring harness features full-size Noble pots. The chrome-plated control plate has plenty of shine, and the bridge is outfitted with vintage-style threaded saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and the three-ply white pickguard, which has some faint scuffing along the strum path.
Cosmetic wear on the gloss custom color Fiesta Red nitro lacquer finish is limited to some light buckle rash on the back central to the upper bout, and just a couple tiny marks on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
A gigbag is included.
