Up for sale, a 2000s Yamaha SGV-700 Flying Samurai vintage reissue electric guitar, like-new and 100% original. Produced in the early 2000s and offered only in the Japanese market, the rarely seen SVG-700 is essentially new old stock and a faithful modern iteration of the original esteemed Flying Samurai. A unique amalgamation of surf-inspired design elements influenced by both Mosrite and Fender, the guitar features a Shelby Blue gloss finish and nigh flawless gold hardware.Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and bound rosewood fretboard, and the SGV-700 is loaded with a trio of single coil pickups. The middle and bridge pickup are coupled both visually and tonally, with a blend pot for a smooth gradient between the coils. These pickups offer bold, sparkling cleans with good meat and roundness, never too thin, yet clear and defined in every pickup position. The instrument weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender, fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve at the nut with more heft and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard measures .795" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and flawless slender fretwire with perfectly rounded crowns. The scale length measures 24 3/4", and the nut is 1 5/8" in width. On the slim headstock, the original tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics function as intended, and the gold plated hardware includes a trio of smooth top Mosrite-esque knobs along with the bridge and vibrato unit. The vibrato has a unique ball bearing design, essentially combining a Mosrite pivot and string anchoring with the spring alignment of a Stratocaster. This vibrato is very effective and works in concert with the bridge's roller saddles, offering a particularly smooth and responsive vibrato action for expressive warbles and dives. The large pearloid pickguard is pristine, and the original factory protective plastic is still intact on the rear tremolo coverplate. The Shelby Blue gloss metalflake body finish has barely a scratch on it, and the neck profile is equally pristine.A gigbag is included.
