Up for sale, a 2000s Terry C. McInturff Glory Standard HHH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Since 1977, McInturff has built a name for himself as one of the finest luthiers in the boutique electric guitar world, and for good reason. This Glory Standard, a direct descendant of McInturff’s first-ever design, is masterfully crafted with top-notch features and componentry including a trio of DiMarzio Airbuckers, a carved bookmatched AAAA flame maple top sporting a nitro lacquer Old Gold gloss finish, and genuine Paua shell abalone inlay and truss rod cover.Tonewoods include a mahogany body topped by a thick, carved bookmatched AAAA flame maple top and a mahogany neck paired with a slab rosewood fretboard. The stock trio of DiMarzio Airbuckers are rich and bold, delivering an open, articulate sound with plenty of treble brightness and (as the name would suggest) a broad, airy midrange. The bridge pickup is snappy and aggressive, the neck has ample thickness and cut, and there are distinct humbucker tones at every position on the five-way pickup selector switch. This guitar weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a 12” radius, genuine Paua shell abalone parallelogram inlay, and medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are practically perfect, with well-rounded crowns, only showing a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25.125” scale, and the neck heel is sculpted for easy access to the highest frets. The neck is straight and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width, and the headstock sports a flame maple veneer with silver Terry C. McInturff signature and Paua shell truss rod cover. The gold Schaller-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, and the back of the headstock retains the handwritten inked serial. On the body, all of the electronics function as intended, with the trio of DiMarzio pickups wired to the stock harness and governed by a five-way selector switch with Master Volume and Tone knobs. Clean gold-plated hardware comprises the Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar, and the original pair of gold speed knobs round out the plastics. The bookmatched AAAA flame maple top is a thick cut, sporting a masterful carve with a distinct German carve on the upper bout and a deep dish on the lower bout. The transparent Old Gold nitro lacquer gloss finish highlights the tight, dimensional and dynamic figuring, extending liberally across every inch of the bookmatched top. There is some limited lacquer checking on the body as a whole, most notable on the lower bout on the back. This is an exceedingly well-kept guitar, with cosmetic wear limited to just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original G&G-brand green tolex hardshell case is included, along with the factory paperwork.
