Up for sale, a 2000s Mosrite Ranger in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Finished in Pearl White, this rare guitar was produced by Mosrite's official licensee, Fillmore, in much smaller quantities than their highly sought after Ventures Model guitars. Fillmore's instruments are among the finest ever offered under the Mosrite banner, adhering faithfully to vintage spec in their tonal response and features, with tight tolerances and exquisite fit and finish work.
The stock pair of RG-1000 pickups are wound to vintage spec, metering at 11.2k ohms, providing a bold, distinct sound in every pickup position. Offering midrange-rich chewy cut and sparkling snap in the bridge position and even meatier tones at the neck, these pickups have a sonic authority and round treble zing that's quintessential Mosrite. This Ranger weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders in every register, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret and .845” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and practically perfect slender fretwire, playing cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The fretboard width at the zero fret measures just a hair over 1 1/2“, forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock sports a Mosrite Ranger logo, and the stock set of Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The hardware is notably clean, including the smooth knobs and the sandcasted Vibramute vibrato. The vibrato actuates easily and bounces quickly back to pitch, perfect for surfy warbles, with good spring tension. The dark brown tortoise pickguard rounds out the plastics.
This Mosrite is in great shape, with cosmetic wear on the gloss Pearl White finish limited to a handful of faint marks and tiny dings on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the lower bout perimeter and the back. The smooth, lightly ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A Ritter-brand padded gigbag is included.
