2000s Mosrite Custom '65 Ventures Model Bass White w/ Case, Kurokumo Japan

Up for sale, a 2000s Mosrite Bass Custom ‘65 vintage reissue in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. This extremely rare instrument was produced by Kurokumo, an official Mosrite licensee in Japan for a number of decades.A short scale affair with a 30 1/2" scale length, this Mosrite is strung with 45-105 roundwound strings, and the basswood body (just like the original '60 Ventures Models) offers a smooth, even-sounding tonal platform for the pair of single coil pickups. Delivering growl and round punch, the pickups meter at 7.8k ohms, offering a distinctive tonal response and ideal thump. This Mosrite weighs 9lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a fairly substantial C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders in every register, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features fret-edge binding on the flawless medium jumbo fretwire, and this bass plays cleanly up the scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The fretboard width is 1 9/16" at the zero fret, just forward of the aluminum nut, and the headstock retains nickel-plated clover button tuning machines.The electronics function as intended; the pickups are governed by Master Volume and Tone controls, topped with smooth machined knobs. The controls are mounted to a three-ply brown tortoise pickguard, and hardware includes a four-saddle bridge and combination aluminum/rosewood string anchor.The body sports a distinctive German carve, and this bass is extremely well-kept, with cosmetic wear on the gloss White finish limited to just a scant few faint scratches and light marks on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.The original Mosrite-branded, brown faux alligator hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags.
