Up for sale, a 2000s Matchless Clubman 35 head, fitted in a Matchless DC-30 2x12” cabinet with British Racing Green tolex and a pair of Celestion G12H 30 speakers. Meticulously handcrafted in Los Angeles, California, this Matchless Clubman 35 has a British-flavored tonal profile, with a touch-sensitive response and streamlined controls that have a broad sweep.
This Clubman 35 features a single channel design with an EF86 preamp and pair of EL-34 power tubes, pushing 35 all-tube watts via a pair of Celestion G12H Anniversary 12" drivers, specially made for Matchless. The Master Volume is highly effective, allowing the player to crank the preamp for rich, textured overdrive at club-friendly volumes. The amp offers tons of brilliant treble and rich low end kick, with a tailored midrange and dense harmonics.
The simple, user-friendly control configuration includes Volume, Bass, Treble, Brilliance, and Master Volume knobs, with a three-way rotary Impedance selector on the back of the chassis (4, 8, 16 ohms) and an Effects Loop Send/Return. The tube complement comprises a matched pair of JJ EL34s, with a custom pentode preamp section of two 12A7s and one EF68 (Sylvania).
The Clubman 35 head has been mounted in a Matchless DC-30 cabinet crafted from 11-ply Baltic birch and finished in British Racing Green tolex. Cosmetic touches include a light-up faceplate, cream chicken head knobs, gold sparkle grillcloth, gold piping, and a premium leather handle. The tolex exhibits some scuffing on the right side and one small spot of wear through the material on top.
